Everest Base Camp (Kathmandu Lhasa Kathmandu) 16 days

The Tibet with Mount Everest Base Camp Tour is a very comprehensive tour of Tibet with visits to the cultural, historic and natural attractions of Tibet. The tour includes all the important places of interest in central & south Tibet including a visit to Rongphu Monastery and Mt. Everest Base Camp.

We begin this tour from Kathmandu fly to Lhasa then drive Across the Tibetan highlands and high passes to the fabled Rongphu Monastery and Mt. Everest Base Camp from where the view of the great North face of Mount Everest is the most spectacular of all. Then we continue drive to Kathmandu via Tingri, Nyalam and Zhangmu.


Destination: Kathmandu- Patan-Bhaktapur-Nagarkot-Lhasa-Gyantse-Shigatse-Ebc-Xegar.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu: Arrive Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Welcome and assistance on arrival at Airport. Transfer to Hotel. Hotel check in. Overnight stay at Hotel Manang or Similar.

Day 02: Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu - (B): After Breakfast at Hotel. Full day sightseeing including Visit 2000 years old Buddhist shrine Swyambhunath, situated on the top of the hill west of the city the most popular and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal. The temple is colloquially known as the "Monkey Temple". There are many small buildings and shrines down the hillside behind Swayambhunath. Explore the colorful Kathmandu Durbar Square - The Old Royal Palace of Kathmandu, Temple of living goddess Kumari, the Jagannath temple, 17th century temple known for colorfully painted erotic carvings, Kasthmandap temple a three story temple built from a single tree in 12th century. Afternoon Sightseeing tour around Patan is often referred to as Lalitpur, which means "city of beauty". Patan has a long Buddhist History and the four corners of the city are marked by Stupas erected by the great Buddhist emperor Ashoka around 250 BC.

Visit Patan City second largest city of valley including Royal Palace, Bhimsen temple, Manga Hiti, King Yogaendra Malla's Statue, Krishna temple, Taleju temple 15th century Golden Temple and Mahaboudha Temple known as temple of 10,000 Buddha, Kumbeshwar Temple. Bishwakarma Temple, Uma Maheshwar Temple. Overnight stay at Hotel Manang or Similar.

Day 03: Kathmandu - Nagarkot - (B): After Breakfast at Hotel we Visit Pashupatinath temple one of the most sacred Hindu shrine in the World. The holy river Bagmati and the burning ghats and also visit one of the oldest and biggest stupa of Boudhanath. Afternoon Sightseeing tour around

 

After lunch transfer to Nagarkot that lies 35 km east of the Kathmandu city located at the elevation of 7200 ft., which offers 200 miles panorama of the Himalayas of Mt. Everest in the east to Dhaulagiri in the west, Arrive Nagarkot, Hotel Check in. Watch the Sunset and Himalayan views. Overnight stay at Hotel Viw point or Similar.

 

Day 04: Nagarkot - Kathmandu - (B): Morning wake up call for sunrise and Himalayan views in Nagarkot. After Breakfast transfer to Kathmandu on the way back to Kathmandu visit Bhaktapur also known as city of Devotees and center of medieval art and architecture founded by King Anand Dev in 889 AD visit Nyatapola temple, the most beautiful temple of Nepal, the 15th century palace of 55 windows, Golden gate and other place of Interest. Overnight stay at Hotel Manang or Similar.

 

Day 05: Kathmandu-Lhasa- (B): Fly with China South West airlines ( Depart KTM at 0950 hours). Arrive Gongar airport at 1340 hours and drive to Lhasa (65km).Check in hotel and free time for acclimatization. Over night at Hotel Yak or Similar


Day 06: Lhasa sightseeing - (B):
Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Market.Over night at Hotel Yak or Similar

Day 07: Lhasa sightseeing - (B): Visit Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. Over night at Hotel Yak or Similar


Day 08: Drive to Gyantse (3950m) (261 km) - (B): Moving along the Friendship Highway, you drive past Khamba La, at 4794 meter, with a brief halt to savor majestic views of Yamdrok-tso Lake and Nazin Kang Sa, standing at 7252m. On turning westwards, you come across another pass, Karo La at 5045m. If you look at the road, you can see huge glaciers tumbling down. After driving 261 km, beautifully landscaped Tibetan villages become visible as you enter the town of Gyantse. Over night at Hotel Yeti or similar.

Day 09: Sightseeing in Gyantse and drive to Shigatse (3900m) 90km- (B): Gyantse prides on Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum. Gyantse Dzong, a 14th century historical fort, overlooks the entire Gyantse and the surrounding Nyang Chu Valley. Kumbum has a large gold-domed stupa and houses several chapels and Tibetan Buddhist murals. After exploring Gyantse, you take a 90 km drive and arrive at Shigatse,(3900m) the second largest Tibetan city. Tashilhunpo Monastery, being one of the largest functioning monasteries in Tibet is the major attraction of Shigatse. Over night at Hotel Manasarover or similar.

Day 10: Sightseeing and drive to Shegar (4050m) 244km- (B): Today you will traverse along the Friendship Highway amidst picturesque landscape driving past small town of Lhatse and Gyamtso La pass at 5220m. As the route opens into plains, many monasteries and camps of nomadic herders become visible en route to Shegar. At Shegar, you will be accommodated at "Everest Resort".

Day 11: Drive to Rongbuk (5000m) (68 km) - Explore Everest base camp - (B): Away from Shegar, you will drive to the south crossing Pang La pass at 5150m. Along the drive you can bask in the splendor of majestic views of snow-capped peaks from Makalu to Shishapangma. After driving for 68 km, you eventually reach Rongbuk at 5000m. You can then view spectacular sight of Mount Everest. You have the opportunity to explore Everest Base Camp (5150m.) The base camp itself is dry and barren, but the views of Everest more than compensates for it. It truly is an awe-inspiring place with the sheer north face of the highest mountain in the world towering above you.Overnight at a guest house.

Day 12: Rongbuk-Shigatse (3900m) - (B): We drive to Shigatse. Over night at Hotel Manasarover or similar.


Day 13: Shigatse - Lhasa - (B)
: Drive back to Lhasa from Shigatse via new road. Over night at Hotel Yak or similar.


Day 14: Lhasa-Kathmandu - (B): Early morning drive to Gongaar airport for departure flight to Kathmandu.Over night at Hotel Manang or Similar

Day 15: Free day in Kathmandu - (B): Hotel Manang or Similar.


Day 16: Departure - (B): Trip ends ! fly back home, taking with you the memory of a life time.
