The initial stage of Trek winds up through the settlement of Ulleri, Nangethati towards Ghorepani from where an early morning sunrise will provide you an awe- inspiring view of the Himalayas from Poonhill. If you are trekking to Annapurna Base Camp we request you not to miss the Sunrise from Poonhill.

Crossing many rivers and springs on Suspension and wooden bridges, the trail gradually climbs up towards Himalaya via Chhomrong and Sinuwa. The vegetation after Himalaya gradually changes and becomes thinner as we will be approaching above the tree line. From Deurali the trees become smaller and the trekkers will step into the Grassland up until Annapurna Base Camp.

Along the route, we will pass the Machhapuchre Base Camp (Fishtail Base Camp). Mt. Fishtail is an unclimbed mountain and is dedicated to lord Shiva. With its difficult terrain and religious value, the Government of Nepal doesn't issue permits to anyone to summit this mountain.

Upon your arrival, a representative from Adventure Treks Nepal will be waiting outside the airport gates to take you to the hotel. Early in the morning, we drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Nepal's lake city. Our bus follows a winding road over the valley rim and descends onto the Trishuli River. The journey is slow and steady as the road winds through villages and passing terrace fields before reaching our destination.

Pokhara is best known for its tranquil atmosphere and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. Normally, we arrive by midafternoon so you have time to explore or relax as you prepare for the journey ahead.

After breakfast we continue our trek towards Ghorepani through the settlements of Banthati and Nangethati. We also pass a spring inside the forest after Banthati. After breakfast we continue our trek towards Ghorepani through the settlements of Banthati and Nangethati. We also pass a spring inside the forest after Banthati. Your guide will check the weather forecast and let you know the sunrise time. We will hike up to Poonhill early in the morning and return back to tea house for breakfast. The sunrise from Ghorepani is said to be one of the best sunrise as the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu Himalayan Range which includes Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Barahi Shikhar, Machhapuchhre offer breathtaking views.

After breakfast we continue trekking towards Chuile. The first part of the trek is an ascent to Thabala Hill from where we will observe magnificent views of the Himalayas. We will then descend down to Deurali where we pass a few teahouses and continue towards Banthanti where we will have our lunch. The trail then descends to a river from where we again climb up to Tadapani from where we take a left towards Chule.

The day begins on a sheer path inside the Rhododendron forests after your breakfast and onto the terraced fields which seems absolutely stunning. We then climb unwaveringly passing exalted waterfalls and cross a suspension bridge. The trail ahead is a fixture of ups and downs finally reaching Chhomrong, our final destination for the day. It is a beautiful village located on the lap of the giant Annapurna massif. Overnight in Chhomrong.

Leaving Chhomrong the trail descends to cross the Chhomrong Khola on a suspension bridge, then climbs high above the Modi Khola on its west bank. The trail then ascends through the villages of Tilche and Sinuwa and finally reaches Kuldi at 2350m. From here the trail descends a long, steep stone staircase into bamboo and rhododendron forests and eventually we reach the small settlement of Bamboo Lodge at 2,340m. After lunch at bamboo The trail continues along the west bank of the Modi Khola valley through dense bamboo forest, occasionally dropping to cross tributary streams, but ascending continuously, and reaches the settlement of Doban at 2630m where there are several good lodges. The trail then continues high above the river to our resting place for the night, the small settlement of tea-houses known as Himalayan Hotel at 2900m.

From Himalaya it is an hour's walk to Hinku Cave at 3160m, and a further half an hour to Deurali at 3230m. Above Deurali the valley widens and becomes less steep. Reaching Deurali brings a feeling to us that we are near to our destination. We can now see the 'gates' to the Sanctuary. The trail continues into the Sanctuary to meet the Modi Khola and follows the river to Bagar, a meadow at 3310m.

From Bagar we continue to trek upwards and reach the area known as Machhapuchhre Base Camp at 3720m. This is a collection of tea-houses spread over a large area. From here the mountain views are fantastic and include Annapurna (8091m).

Today is the main highlight of the trek where we will be heading towards the highest point of the trek, Annapurna Base Camp at an elevation of 4,130 meters. It will take around 2-3 hours to reach Annapurna Base Camp from here. We begin our trek after your breakfast on the trail that offers splendid views of Annapurna giants and other surrounding mountains. After we arrive at the Base Camp the entire area is surrounded by mountains which are perfect to take some pictures for memory. We reach Annapurna Base Camp before noon allowing us to have plenty of time to enjoy nature.

After spending a night at the Base Camp we retrace our footsteps back to Bamboo on the same trail we used to get to the Base camp. The trail today is quite easy as it will be mostly downhill. If possible we will trek further ahead to Sinuwa. We will have marvelous sceneries always cheering us while we retrace our footsteps back to Bamboo. If you are able to trek upto sinuwa today, you will have a good and less crowded time at Hot Spring as most of the big groups stop at Bamboo.

After your breakfast we will resume our trek towards Jhinu Danda where the hot water springs are waiting for us. We will ascend to Kuldighar followed by descent to Chhomromg Khola. The hot spring at Jhinu Danda is a perfect medicine to heal your aching body after a long trek. We can spend our remaining time relaxing at the hot spring in Jhinu Danda.

From Jhinu Danda the trail descends towards the river where we will cross a long suspension bridge, longest of the whole trip. After crossing the bridge we begin to hike uphill. On our way we drive alongside the Modi Khola River. Around an hour hiking and 03-04 hrs driving. Lunch will be in Pokhara and after lunch leisure time.

After breakfast in Pokhara, we have a mountain flight to Kathmandu; it is a thrilling, exciting flight over forests, fields and villages with the Himalayas in the background. On arrival, we transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure for any last minute shopping for your loved ones.

Essential Information

Permit: In order to trek to Annapurna Base Camp travelers are expected to have two types of Permits which are issued by the Government of Nepal. These two permits are Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS). Adventure Treks Nepal will prepare these permits for its clients before their arrival in Nepal.

Accommodation: While you stay in major cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara you have the options to choose from a wide range of hotels from luxurious five star properties to budget hotels. Adventure Treks Nepal always provides options to its clients during the inquiry which will allow them to choose their preferred types of Accommodation.

During your trekking you will be staying at Tea House (Lodges). Some of these Tea Houses (until and below chhomrong) have attached bathrooms which we can arrange and book for you with extra cost. You have to mention that while booking the trip.

Transportation: According to the group size we will book the vehicle. All of our land transportation will be done by Private / Tourist standard vehicles with air conditioning. We prefer to take a flight from Kathmandu- Pokhara- Kathmandu via Buddha Air (Nepal's safest Airline) for our Annapurna Base Camp Trek. You may have the option to drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara as well, which will take approximately 8 hours.

Meals: During your stay in the cities only Breakfast is provided at the hotel buffet.

While you are in Annapurna Region your Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is included and you get to choose from the menu. The menu in Annapurna Region also includes western items like Oats Porridge, Muesli, Fried Noodles, Pizza, Spaghetti, Macaroni, and Spring Rolls along with some delicious Nepali cuisines like Momo, Tibetan Bread and Dal Bhat (a set lunch/ dinner item with rice, vegetables, pickle and lentil soup). In the course of your trekking we request you to try local cuisines which have great taste.

Training for Annapurna Base Camp Trekking

Before starting your Journey to Annapurna Base Camp we suggest you get involved in 4 to 6 weeks fitness training. If you are in your best physical fitness you will have no problem completing the trek with a normal itinerary.

Include walking on the treadmill in your workout routine and if you can add incline mode to increase the difficulty which will improve your strength. Also do lots of cardio to keep those muscles relaxed.

If you wish you can perform your workouts with weighted exercises which will definitely be worth it while you hike those uphill during the trek.

FAQs

Annapurna Base Camp trek is regarded as a moderate trekking trail in Nepal. With many accents and descents along the trail you need to have some experience of walking for a few hours (5-7 hrs) per day. The trail after MBC is gradual although the altitude will make it difficult for some hikers.

We suggest you hit the gym for a few weeks before the start of your trek or walk for a few hours. General exercises prior to your trip will be beneficial for the trek.

The answer is yes. Annapurna Base Camp can be done by first time hikers as well. But you have to make sure you ascend slowly as the altitude might get you sometimes. However, as professionals, we would suggest you do some basic physical exercises like walking, running prior to the trek which will help you during the trekking.

Most of the Tea Houses have internet connection which will allow you to keep updated with your loved ones during the trek. But as we go high in altitude the internet connection might not be strong and may not work sometimes if the weather is bad. Moreover, the Wi-Fi is available throughout the trek but the strength of the connection will vary from place to place.

Guides can play a crucial role in order to complete your trek without any hassle. They will make sure you stay in the best tea house possible and will assist you throughout the trek. Their knowledge about the region will make your journey more reliable and safe.

Also the Government of Nepal has made Guides compulsory in order to trek in the Himalayas of Nepal.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is for all group sizes and age groups. Nepal is absolutely safe for solo male and female travelers which allows you to explore this beautiful nation without much risk. You will encounter many happy souls along the trail and you might not be completely alone during the trek.

However, we suggest you get yourself a porter guide or guide who will be crucial when something unwanted emergencies occur during the trek.

You will need two types of trekking Permit to trek in Annapurna Region i.e. TIMS Permit (Trekkers Information Management System) and ACAP Permit (Annapurna Conservation Area Project).
