Ghorepani Poohill Trekking: The Ghorepani Poonhill trek is a colorful short foray into the Annapurna region. The trail winds through patchwork valleys, dense mossy forests and past icy waterfalls where you can stop to cool your face. Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu - [1,338 m]: Upon your arrival, a representative from Adventure Treks Nepal will be waiting outside the airport gates to take you to the hotel. Depending on time of arrival, plans will be made for a briefing meeting once you have settled in. (Car).

Day 02: Cultural Tour in Kathmandu - [1,338 m] - (B): After breakfast in the Hotel we have a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu vally which takes in the key attractions in and around Kathmandu. Including AM: Visit 2000 years old Buddhist shrine Swyambhunath, situated on the top of the hill west of the city the most popular and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal. The temple is colloquially known as the “Monkey Temple”. There are many small buildings and shrines down the hillside behind Swayambhunath. Explore the colorful Kathmandu Durbar Square - The Old Royal Palace of Kathmandu, Temple of living goddess Kumari, the Jagannath temple, and 17th century temple known for colorfully painted erotic carvings, Kasthmandap temple a three story temple built from a single tree in 12th century.

PM: Visit Pashupatinath temple one of the most sacred Hindu shrine in the World. The holy river Bagmati and the burning ghats and also visit one of the oldest and biggest stupa of Boudhanath. (Car /06-07 Hours).

Day 03: Fly to Pokhara [970 m]- (B): After very early breakfast we transfer to the domestic airport then we take flight to Pokhara (about 25 M), the beautiful lake city and catch great views of the Himalayas from the right side of our airplane. After we arrive in Pokhara we transfer to the Hotel.

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul, trek to Banthanti [1,338 m] - (B,L,D):After breakfast we drive for one hour to Nayapul and then begin walking towards Birethati. We then cross the river at Birethati and head left along the gentle slope to Tikhedhunga where we cross the Bhurungdi Khola River to start the long steep climb to Ulleri then walk further along to Banthanti where we spend the night. (Car + Trek). (Drive 01-01:30 Hours). Trek (05-06 Hrs).

Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani [2,810 m] - (B,L,D):After breakfast we continue our trek along the trail. Occasional views of the peaks give way to a narrower valley, passing through Rhododendron forest then eventually reaching the village of Ghorepani where we spend a night. Trek (03-04 Hrs).

Day 06: Ghorepani to Tadapani [2,610 m] - (B,L,D): During the night, your guide will check for clear weather to make the one-hour climb up to the Poonhill viewpoint at 3,210m. It’s usually misty when you start off and arrive, then at sunrise the clouds part to reveal one of the most majestic sunrises in the world; Machapuchhre, Annapurna South, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri mountain are all viewable from here. We then head back to Ghorepani for breakfast before trekking down to Tadapani.

Along the trail towards Tadapani, we make climb along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2,960 meters). After that we descend to the Banthanti, we then turn off to Tadapani. Trek (05-06 Hrs).

Day 07: Tadapani-Ghandruk [1,945 m] - (B,L,D): From Tadapani the trail descends through forests to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a village of Gurung people, one of the ethnic groups of Nepal; they have their own dialect, culture, costume, and life style. Ghandruk is also home to many Gurkha soldiers. It is a famous destination for trekkers as it is known for its beautiful mountain views and within easy reach from Pokhara and Kathmandu. We have the afternoon to visit the Annapurna conservation office, Museum and explore the village. Trek (03-04 Hrs).

Day 08: Ghandruk-Dhampus [1,650 m] - (B,L,D): After Breakfast, We trek to trek to Dhampus from Ghandrung. Lunch at Tolka on the way to Dhampus. Rest after reaching Dhampus. Trek (07-08 Hrs).

Day 09: Dhampus-Pokhara [930 m] - (B,L): After breakfast at Dhampus we starts trek from Dhampus to Phedi and from there we drive to Pokhara. Where we arrive by mid afternoon so you have time to explore this pretty lake city. You can even hire a boat to visit Island Barahi temple and get some great photos. (Trek 02-03 hrs and drive 00:30 Hours).

Day 10: Pokhara-drive to Taksar visit school and drive back to Pokhara [930 m] - (B,L): After breakfast we drive about 46 Km to visit school have Nepali Local lunch then drive back to Pokhara.

Day 11: Pokhara Drive to Chitwan National Park [850 m] - (B,L,D): After a hearty breakfast, we will drive to Chitwan, Arrive Chitwan National Park. Transfer to the lodge followed by refreshments and a briefing about the Programme

13.00 hrs: Arrival/Briefing/Lunch.
15.30 hrs: Culture tour to Tharu village.
17.00 hrs: Museum tour & sunset viewing over the Rapti River.
19.00 hrs: Dinner.
20.00 hrs: Tharu stick Dance.

Day 12: In Chitwan National Park [850 m] - (B,L,D):

06.00 hrs:
Wake-up Call.
06.30 hrs: Breakfast.
07.15 hrs: Dog-out canoeing (Buddi Rapti) / Shoret Jungle Walk. Visit elephant Breeding Centre.
12.30 hrs: Lunch.
13.15 hrs: Elephant Bathing.
15.00 hrs: Elephant Back Safari.
19.00 hrs: Free time for refreshment.
20.30 hrs: Dinner

Day 13: Breakfast at Hotel Fly to Kathmandu [1,330 m] - (B).

06.00 hrs: Wake-up Call.
06.30 hrs: Tea/Coffee.
07.00 hrs: Bird Watching.
08.30 hrs: Breakfast.
09.15 hrs: Departure (Drive to Bharatpur Airport). Fly to Kathmandu.

After breakfast in Chitwan, we drive to Bharatpur Airport fly back to Kathmandu. On arrival, we transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 14: Fly back home [1,330 m] - (B): We will transfer you to the airport and assist with check-in procedures.

Chitwan National Park is ne of the famous parks of Asia and easily accessible from Kathmandu. This National park is situated in the subtropical inner Terai lowland of south-central Nepal. It is about 169 km from Kathmandu. It covers an area of 932 sq km. The park covers a pristine area with a unique ecosystem of significant value to the world. It contains the Churiya hills, ox-bow lakes, Narayani River. Approximately 70% of the park vegetation is sal forest. The grassland 20%, riverine forest 7%, Sal with chirpine 3%, the latter occupying at the top of the Curiya range. The riverine forests consists mainly of Khair, sissoo and simal. The grassland forms a diverse and complex community with over 50 species. The Saccharun species, often called elephant grass, can reach 8 m. in height. The shorter grasses such as Imperata are useful for thatch roofs. There are more than 43 species of mammals in the park. The park is especially renowned for the endangered one horned rhinoceros, the tiger and the gharial crocodile along with many other common species such as gaur, wild elephant, four horned antelope, striped hyena, pangolin, gangetic dolphin, monitor lizard and python. Other animals found in the park include the sambar, chital, hog deer, barking deer, sloth bear, palm civet, langur and rhesus monkey.

There are over 450 species of birds in the park. Among the endangered birds are the Bengal florican, giant hornbill, lesser florican, black stork and white stork. Common birds seen in the park include the peafowl, red jungle fowl, and different species of egrets, herons, kingfishers, flycatchers and woodpeckers. The best time for bird watching is March and December. More than 45 species of amphibians and reptiles occur in the park, some of which are the marsh crocodile, cobra, green pit viper and various species of frogs and tortoises. The park is very rich in wild fauna and flora. Due to its easy accessibility from Kathmandu and Pokhara, there are several different kinds of accommodation available inside the National park and outside the National park.
